I am starting a discussion here. What's one thing about hunting that the general public completely misunderstands? I'll go first...people think we waste meat but the reality is that most hunters I know use everything and eat better than anyone buying factory-farmed meat.

Some people think hunting is just reckless, but honestly, I see more careful thought and control involved than in almost anything else. I always try to explain to people that things like tags, hunting seasons and just plain respect for the animals are behind every choice I make.

I black bear hunt, so the biggest question that I get is, “What do you do with the meat?”. When I tell them that I eat it, then it is like, “You eat bear meat, how can you eat bear meat, what does it taste like?”. I live in a small, contemporary home, bear hides really do not fit too well with the decor! Hanging the attached on my walls is not an option. This is a bear that I shot in 2018. The outfitter liked the hide so much that he kept it and hung it in his camp.
