My first impression of a first focal plane scope and second focal plane

I’d used SFP my whole shooting career and I switched to FFP for a precision rig. The reticle scaling with magnification was jarring at first, it felt unnecessary but then one day it clicked. Now I won’t go back to SFP for anything I shoot past 300 yards.

FFP feels weird until it suddenly doesn’t, then you realize it was doing the math for you all along.

First focal plane scopes felt weird to me too, especially at low magnifications where the reticle seems tiny. But once I started using holdovers instead of constantly dialing in, it all clicked.
