A press isn’t cheap and the components definitely add up. I’ve always wondered if reloading shotshells actually saves money or if it’s more about the fun and control over your loads..

For most people it’s about hobby and customization. Savings come slowly, if ever.

Most who reload shotgun shells do it because they shoot a lot of clays. When it comes to hunting loads, the savings tend to be small unless you’re really into custom tuning.

I tried reloading shotshells but gave up quickly, it felt like spending more than I saved. Some people swear by it but I just wanted my time back

Honestly, for most people it’s not cheaper until you go deep. Then it’s a hobby that occasionally makes ammo.
